About

I was born in 1977 in the high desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico, from my mother, Nancy Kaufman, who is a weaver, and father, Thomas Larson, who is a writer. I grew up in a weaving studio learning to warp a loom, dye and spin yarn, and transfer apparel designs into wearable art. At 5 years old my parents moved us to Encinitas, California, only a few blocks away from Stone Steps beach access. As a kid, I grew up catching waves in the ocean, flying across the pavement on a skateboard and exploring the world of arts and craft.

From my early teens to my mid-twenties I was heavily involved in the music industry where I designed for bands and record labels, worked for many years at a record store called Music Trader and filled my entrepreneurial spirit by creating a music magazine, record label and distribution company. During this time I was hired by a record label called Cargo Music as a graphic designer and studied graphic design at San Diego City College in their award winning design program.

My career quickly took off when I was hired by Grafixs Design Agency and furthered my career a few years later, when I was hired by North Sails to be the creative designer for their clients. Roy Disney, Bill Walton, Jimmy Buffet, Frank Gehry and even the King of Qatar, were some of the high-end clients I was fortunate to create designs for.

Today I am lucky to say I am retired from the 9-5 work week and work independently on graphic design while I travel and explore my other passions for hiking, Chicago Bears football and finding, yet another, perfect wave.

Lifelong Chicago Bears Fan

When I was 5 years old, my grandparents, John and Eve moved from Chicago to the West Coast to be closer to their grandchildren. Grandpa John had always been “Grandpa Bear” to me but I had no idea where his nickname originated from. He was a huge Chicago Bears fan and his passion soon became mine as well.

North Beach, Coronado CA

Growing up on the Pacific Coast provided me with the perfect setting to nurture my passion for bodysurfing. This is one of my favorite beaches, North Beach in Coronado CA, that has perfect barrels when a south swell hits our coast.

Pacific Crest Trail 2019

On May 3rd, 2019, I set off to hike the PCT, a 2665.6 mile trail that starts at the boarder of California and Mexico and follows the Sierra Nevada mountain range through California, Oregon and ends at the boarder of Washington and Canada. On October 20th, 2019, I completed this journey.
